Vibe Coding to Vibe Marketing and everything in between…

What is vibe coding? What better way to learn than to ask Grok:

Vibe coding is a term used to describe a relaxed, intuitive, and often creative approach to programming where the coder focuses on the overall "feel" or flow of the process rather than strictly adhering to rigid methodologies or best practices. It emphasizes enjoyment, experimentation, and personal style, often prioritizing the coder's mood or inspiration over perfectionism or optimization.

Key aspects of vibe coding include:

  • Creativity over structure:

  • Minimal planning:

  • Personal flair:

  • Low-pressure mindset:

The term often appears in online coding communities, like posts on X, where developers share memes or stories about coding in a carefree, vibe-driven way—think dim lights, lo-fi music, and a "let's see where this goes" attitude. While it can lead to messy or inefficient code, it’s celebrated for fostering creativity and making coding feel more human.

I have been seeing Vibe Coding and Vibe Marketing tweets and posts all over the internet. Most of the vibe lifestyle seems to include everyone using the latest AI tools and for coding, that is Cursor or Windsurf or the many other tools. So does this make developers less necessary in the future if everyone can code or use AI tools?

I was recently talking to Jared Neutel from Neutech, which is a LATAM-based Developer Agency that has a large presence of senior developers working at financial institutions, corporates, startups, and investment management firms. He mentioned that the best part of Vibe Coding for him is that firms end up hiring us to come and clean up the mess. So while everyone is talking about AI tools making developers less necessary, the flip side is that these tools are also requiring senior developers to come in and clean up and productionize code. But maybe Vibe Coding and AI tools don’t go hand in hand, but in many cases, it seems like they do. At the end of the day, I think everyone wins. Non-technical people can build more, get companies off the ground, and can hire developers that are more efficient. Developer shops at the same time are seeing more and more work, cleaning up bad code, implementing these AI tools in organizations, and leveraging AI to make the projects they are hired for built in record time.
