Unsubscribe please
The Initial Data Offering (IDO) community is a place for data enthusiasts to discover new datasets daily.
The mission is to build a community of data enthusiasts and curate high-quality, unique datasets for businesses, researchers, and organizations worldwide.
I find myself hitting the Unsubscribe button regularly. Everyone these days is inundated with newsletters, email campaigns, and information overload. Unsubscribing feels like a way to start the new year fresh. Sad thing is it never feels like the unsubscribe option works for the companies you want to stop spamming you. They just don’t go away until you put them in the Spam filter.
We need better ways to filter the noise. I used Unroll.me back in the day when it was available in Gmail, before it was acquired. It was great at rolling up my emails to just one email a day for all the promotions. This would be a great feature for getting a roll up now of 1 email for Sports, 1 for Fintech news/newsletters, 1 for events in my neighborhood, etc. etc. I think we all want more but less at the same time. More insights, more expertise, more news, more ideas, but less spam. More aggregation, more summarization, more AI! Yes, more AI assistants, agents, and artificial capabilities in our daily personal and professional lives.
As Google finally kills cookies, the world of tracking and the internet as we know it is likely to change. On the one hand, this is probably best for the consumer and is our way of clicking Unsubscribe to everyone who tracks us all over the internet. On the other hand, I wonder if the ads we all get are going to become much less relevant. As creepy as it is when we get ads that feel like we are being watched or listened to, I also love it. I buy some of the oddest things I never knew I needed or wanted. The winners from the cookie changes are going to be the ones with unique data and the ones who have platforms that have engaged audiences. Our portfolio Punchup.Live I think has a great opportunity to be a winner for the comedians with all these changes happening.
The internet feels like it’s changing and we are soon to see some new big players over the next 24 months. How this changes I don’t really know, but I do know I will be clicking Unsubscribe a lot more, and at the same time I continue to subscribe to great new discovered content daily. +2 unsubscribe, +1 subscribe.
