It's time for Verticalized Twitter Competitors
The Initial Data Offering (IDO) community is a place for data enthusiast to discover new datasets daily.
The mission is to build a community of data enthusiasts and curate high-quality, unique datasets for businesses, researchers, and organizations worldwide.
Elon is ruining Twitter in many ways. We need verticalized communities. Stocktwits is a great example. A community for those who love the financial markets. I personally plan to be more active on the platform. I have been passively using it since 2014.
It's time we see communities for verticalized topics. Twitter has endless issues and we can't trust what Elon will do next. He may eventually require you to have a Tesla to log in to X. What I do know is there and will be great places for communities to engage, share ideas, banter, and learn.
I miss the Twitter from the years Gnip was managing their data access. The number of companies building innovative products, tools, and curated offerings on top of the fire hose or partial hose was exciting to see. Gnip was building a huge ecosystem of new companies and held one of the most fun and engaging events annually in Boulder.
Stocktwits was similar. Many years ago a group of a few hundred descended upon Coronado in San Diego annually for Stocktoberfest. It was one of those events you looked forward to every year. I still remember the times hanging out with Pierce Crosby who is now at Tradingview and Steve Lau from WorldQuant Ventures, having beers on the beach talking about investment opportunities and so much more. As 2024 kicks off, I am thinking more about communities and smaller intimate events. I look forward to engaging more on Stocktwits and attending in-person smaller events.
Verticalized communities, smaller communities, places where people are very engaged and active on topics and common interests- this is something I think will become more and more prevalent.
