I made the change. My thoughts on Rivian vs. Tesla

First off, I am long Humanoids, so ultimately I think $TSLA ( ▼ 4.11% ) is a winner long term. I also think robotaxis are the future. That being said, I am a happy new $RIVN ( ▼ 4.12% ) driver and have given back my $TSLA ( ▼ 4.11% ) Model Y lease.

What’s the difference? Why did I make the change?

Tesla really doesn’t have a car big enough for 3 kids. The Model X kind of works, but not really enough space for young kids, car seats, etc. So Tesla really doesn’t have a chance.

When you get inside a Rivian, it’s clear right away that the car is more luxurious than Tesla. From the seats to the dashboard, to the overall feel. Maybe it’s not fair because I am comparing my Model Y, but the comparison is not even close. Driving a performance model Y compared to a 2025 Rivian R1S makes the Model Y feel like a low-end model Honda Civic. Don’t get me wrong, at the low-end price of the Model Y for a lease now at $399, it’s a good bargain. But when I leased a Model Y, it was $999 a month. For that price, you can get a top-of-the-line Rivian R1S, especially if you got the Memorial Day incentives.

Overall, Rivian quality, especially the interior, and the overall feeling driving the car, don’t compare to the $TSLA ( ▼ 4.11% )

If/when Tesla gets a true SUV, and they give you the high-end interior features of say, the Model X, maybe then there is a chance. But until then, $TSLA ( ▼ 4.11% ) is great if you want the low-end model for getting around town, especially with the full self driving! But if you have multiple kids, and you want a luxury feeling more like a Mercedes or Range Rover, $RIVN ( ▼ 4.12% ) is the best bet for full electric, which is a no-brainer when dealing with California gas prices!

I remain long $TSLA ( ▼ 4.11% ) shares and a happy Rivian driver. This is not financial advice.

The Real Traders Aren't on CNBC

Your current options for finding stock trades:

Option 1: Spend 4 hours daily reading everything online
Option 2: Pay $500/month for paywalled newsletters and pray
Option 3: Get yesterday's news from mainstream financial media

All three keep you broke.

Here's where the actual edge lives:

  • Twitter traders sharing real setups (not TV personalities)

  • Crowdfunding opportunities before they go mainstream

  • IPO alerts with actual timing

  • Reddit communities spotting trends early

  • Crypto insider takes (not corporate PR)

The problem? You'd need to be terminally online to track it all.

Stocks & Income monitors every corner where real money gets made. We send you only the actionable opportunities. No fluff, no yesterday's headlines.
