Summer winds down. It’s go time…
I’ve always felt that post Labor Day, everything ramps up. Kids are back in school, conference season and traveling for many professionals is back in full swing, and the sprint to the Decemeber holidays is on.
Coming out of August, you are supposed to be well rested, refreshed, and ready to hit the ground running. For many in the VC industry, Summers are historically quiet, and founders go into build mode as nobody tries to do fundraising. This year has definitely been different!
The number of deals our firm and other firms in the venture capital space are looking at that are intriguing has skyrocketed, and this has arguably been the busiest Summer in 5 years. For Social Leverage, we are now close to 5 new investments in our Fund V portfolio.
Why is it? Better founders? Better businesses? AI? Money flowing? Excitement? FOMO? You could argue, depending on what you invest in and what stage, that it’s a little of everything. For us at Social Leverage, I think we stay disciplined, we ignore the noise, but are seeing quality founders, building real businesses, and the use of AI is making it easier to build lean and mean.
No matter how you slice it, the opportunities right now are clear, and there is a lot of innovation being built. As we gear up for a busy fall, I think the velocity of deal flow and innovation will only continue.
