Decentralized Expert Networks

Expert Networks are a fantastic business. I have been a client and an expert and I can see the value on both sides. But will we ever see a decentralized expert network?
I understand there are compliance concerns and many other operational aspects that expert networks provide. These obstacles and concerns lead me to believe we will always have centralized expert networks. But I do believe there is an opportunity for a decentralized offering as well.
Imagine a world where you can search your network, or network of networks, find someone with the expertise you are looking for, and pay them directly. Or maybe rather than pay, the system is a give-get model. If I want to leverage an expert, I need to provide my own expertise to that expert or someone else within the network. I often think about the network of friends, ex-colleagues, and friends of friends that I have. Many can likely help me in areas I need expertise. I would be happy to pay a nominal dollar amount or offer my expertise in exchange.
This is already being done via social networks like Twitter & Linkedin when people post a question, get comments, or a DM turns into a phone call or Zoom. But a more organized decentralized expert network is something I keep coming back to. Search capabilities, rich data on someone’s expertise, maybe ratings on their areas of expertise, etc. In the end, the best expert networks like GLG, Tegus, Guidepoint, and many others will still serve a great purpose, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t an opportunity for a more decentralized provider as well.
