Performance Model Not So Great. Poor Design = Tire Wear & Tear

I officially returned my $TSLA ( ▼ 1.5% ) Model Y Performance. My 3-year lease is up.The bad news is I was told I had to replace both my rear tires due to excessive wear & tear. That was a shock! In 3 years of leasing the car, I have only put 24,000 miles on the car, and the tires should last much longer than that.

I took the car to the local tire shop. The guy at the counter immediately asked “Is that the performance model?” - He then told me that given how the car is designed, and the size of the tires, it is too much weigh on the back tires and they are seeing every owner of the Model Y Performance vehicle having to replace their tires much earlier than anticipated.

Well that sucks. Now I have to pay extra for a lease I am returning with fewer miles than I could have driven it and the tires have gone to shit.

Hence, one of the many reasons I am now a happy $RIVN ( ▲ 1.49% ) R1S driver.
