AI agents - Data Buyers
There have been many developments over the last few years in the data marketplace. Snowkflake changed the game by making it easier to onboard data. It is truly a game changer for onboarding data and requires less engineering headaches, less planning and makes the entire data buying, testing, onboarding experience seamless. Others in the space like Amazon have put out their marketplace & I have always been a fan of Neudata for data catalogs of datasets. There are dozens more focused on different niches or verticals.
The future I believe will be AI agents buying datasets for users. Buying data on demand, paying for snippets, delivering charts backed by these datasets, and handling the entire process for us. We will ask the agent a question, they will have the discretion to use our credits or credit card up to a specific dollar amount, they will go to marketplaces, buy data, transform it, and deliver to us an end product in answers, pdfs, powerpoints, and more. This is the future I am excited about.
These AI Agents will need new marketplaces or new features within marketplaces to be successful. Will the AI Agents interface with other AI Agents? Will data providers get comfortable selling just pieces of their datasets vs. entire data products? Will they trust the AI Agent buyers? Excited to meet others thinking about these new marketplaces. It is hard to imagine disrupting Snowflake, but I think if it will be done, it will be because they focus on AI buyers.
